Daydreams and wanderlust

Wanderlust (or bust)

I’ve been finding myself daydreaming a lot about escaping to the other side of the world – the Americas in particular.

There’s the Galapagos Islands, with their incredible wildlife.

There’s Bolivia, with its otherworldly, eerie salt flats.

There’s Cuba, with intensely colourful architecture and history in Havana and beyond.

But I think it might be North America I especially want to return to. There have been so many great deals on flights of late and they’re bound to get better – Air NZ now flies to the south as well (Houston) and American Airlines is due to enter the fray this year. I’d love to do another road trip across the US. Returning to New York, of course, to explore more boroughs and gorge on deli sandwiches. Heading down through the southeast, and then zigging up to the Pacific Northwest to see Portland, Seattle, maybe even up to Vancouver. (Yeah, it’d be a loooong leisurely trip.)

At least dreams are free.

What travel destinations are you dreaming of lately?

‘ey! Don’t forget about us! 🙂 Drop me a line if you pick up a flight and will pass through, obviously.

I’m reliving our NZ trip right now 🙂 And then feeling that I should be better at exploring my own country. I also really want to go back to Europe – it’s been six years since I’ve been there. Do let me know if you end up back in the States!

What I wouldn’t give for the opportunity to go to New Zealand. I feel pretty stuck on this continent right now. There are some great, amazing things to do and see in the U.S. but I have a wicked travel itch to cross either ocean and go explore amazing new places.

I’d love to go back to London, but I’d be happy just being able to take off for a week or so in DC.

I’m dreaming of Thailand and Cambodia and then sometimes Spain and Morocco. I didn’t get out of the country last year at all, so I am itching to go somewhere far and exotic this year.

Oddly enough, I don’t feel the urge to travel..yet. I am thinking Cuba before our next President is sworn in-never know how things will change. Then in no particular order Colombia/Brazil/Vietnam/Tanzania/Morocco/Iceland/Ireland/Scotland/England. It’s my turn to visit my best friend so I might end up going to the last four countries soon than later.

I have been dreaming of going to Paris, France, and Portland. I wish I could visit these places this year.
