SOS: Costume party

I hate costume parties. I’m lazy. And self conscious. But one of my best friends from uni is throwing one soon, and we’re all required to dress up as our favourite book characters.

Immediately, Jessica Darling springs to mind. But she lives in Chucks and jeans. Not all that unique. Aside from that, I can only think of Lyra from Northern Lights/Golden Compass.

So…who are your fave book characters that I too might know and love? Jog my memory!

I hate Halloween because you’re expected to dress up. I don’t have the patience to think of a costume.

I’d have no idea where to start with my favourite book character though! All the books I like just have “regular” people in them 😛

I hate halloween and costume parties. It feels like too much pressure to dress up and have an awesome costume when I’d rather not.

Book characters sounds fun though! Not sure what you read so I don’t have any suggestions.

Is “Where’s Wally” considered a book? ‘Cos Wally and Wanda would be pretty easy to dress up as, hehe…

How about togas and the like, from any Greek literature?

Or you could go hard fashion-wise, Andy from Devil Wears Prada, good movie, book is a bit meh… but you could be evil Andy (‘cos that’s what she was in the book)

Alice in Wonderland is instantly recognisable: blond hair, black ribbon, blue dress, white socks, black shoes …

    Little Red Riding Hood

Generic Princess, then you could be any of the fairy tale stories!

Wow: all the ideas I can think of are from kids stories.

What about something from a cookery book? You could kind of cheat and either dress up like a celebrity chef that you look a bit similar to (ie: brunette? Nigella, etc) then wear an apron and carry around a mixing bowl and a wooden spoon all night … could be a good option for something you can put together from things around the house.

Do you like the Harry Potter books? (I actually haven’t read them, though I like the movies)

My favorite book/character of all time is Aerin from The Hero and The Crown. You could go in armor with a sword? 😉

I was also a fan of Anita from the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series (up until the books became crap). I could see someone dressing up as her.

I don’t have the colouring for Alice in Wonderland, but I could be Snow White!

Also, yes, I heart Harry Potter. Hermione is my hero. Not sure if I could pull off her hair…
