These holidays I’m republishing some old posts that newer readers might have missed first time around. Enjoy!
I hate naming favourites. Favourite band, movie, song, colour, food…..I’m just too indecisive, or perhaps too apathetic, to decide.
But I think I’ve finally come up with my favourite kinds of foods, and my favourite cuisines.
Foods I could not live without…
Malaysian
Assam laksa. Mmm…
Thai
Pad thai. Always a winner.
Indian
Rogan Josh (and tikka masala is another trusty fave)
And in terms of generic food items?
Potatoes. I think deep down a part of me was once a poor Irish farmer.
Cheesecake. Can never get enough.
Pasta. So versatile!
If I had to pick my perfect last meal on earth, I think I’d go for a Singapore laksa with lots of hard boiled eggs and prawns. Followed by cheesecake and a fudge brownie with whipped cream or ice cream (I’m allowed two desserts, right??)
You’ve hit ALL of my favourites.
Have you ever tried Ayam Roti Canai? SOOO GOOD 🙂
As for my last meal, it’d be Tartiflette. Hands down. My favourite dish in the whole world, which is weird because I looooooooooove sushi.
LOVE roti canai, classic malaysian fare!
Tartiflette sounds lovely – what a pretty word too.
I feel like sushi now…
Here’s my take on that ravioli picture … !

I would get New Zealand lamb chops with potato frites. The sauce is so good I use it on the frites. My wife and I usually go this restaurant to have this meal on our anniversary and maybe New Year’s Eve. It is super delicious. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
You are my food soul mate. I LOVE potatoes, cheesecake, and Thai, Indian, [insert anything Asian here].
An Indian fest with chicken pakora, jeera aloo, dal makhani, samosas, roti, naan, jasmin rice (or basmati).. insert any other indian food here .. that would be my last meal.
Yum… never heard of “Rogan Josh”?
I miss Malaysian food. Enjoyed it for four years growing up. My favorite is good ol roti canai with a side of curry.
We are so much alike. I love Asian and Indian food. The flavours are amazing and being a vegetarian still leaves lots of options. My favourite food is definitely Thai. It is so good. For basic foods I like popcorn, tortilla chips, salsa, and nuts.
If it’s your last meal I think you can have any many desserts as you want :0) I’m the same way with food, I like pretty much any south Asian cuisine. Good thing I live in a city that has worldly options. My fav generic foods are eggs, potatoes, chicken, and shell fish ^_^
I love noodle soups and laksa is delish. YUM.
I’m so fortunate to live in Vancouver. The selection of cuisines and quality of food that you can get here is amazing.
I always say that if I am on a plane and it is going down, I’ll be running out to the galley and eating a vegemite sandwich on thick white bread! I’m one of those people with multiple food allergies and celiac as well so quite honestly, if it were my last meal, I’d be hooking into a vegemite sandwich and praying I lived long enough to taste it and died soon enough not to feel the effects of it 🙂
