Car troubles and badly cut pizza

Just because I use a coupon……doesn’t mean it’s cool to slack off on cutting up my pizza giving me 5 massive slices and 3 minuscule ones!

I’m sure pizza places have a secret policy for coupon users – be as sloppy as possible, and make their pizzas smaller than they should be.

Not that I can complain, seeing as I got a free pizza, and pizza is pizza. dafazios_pizza

What did freak me out a little was when I gave my order over the phone, and my contact number. And somehow the girl on the other end of the phone knew my name! They must keep all customers’ details on file, like, FOREVER, because the last time I phoned to order pizza was probably over a year ago.

BF isn’t a big pizza fan, so we hardly ever go to Pizza Hut or Dominos. He likes making his own at home.

So we went to get in the car to pick them up (yes, I’m too cheap to get food delivered. Done it ONCE, was horrified at the surcharge and refused to ever do it again), and didn’t get out of the driveway.

BLOODY EFFING CARS.

Either the clutch or transmission is out. And obviously we can’t even take it to a mechanic, even if it was in the budget.

This comes as we have about four loads of washing to do, no food in the house, and I have several things to do out and about. Not to mention that we put in $45 of gas, which would have lasted 2, maybe 3 weeks.

Deja vu…..the last 2-3 times our car’s conked out, it’s done so with a lot of gas in it.

FML.

Yo, i’m telling you – people DO treat you differently when you present a coupon! it’s craaaaazy. Just happened to me the other day.

And btw, that’s awesome you guys have the steering and all on the right – always cool to see as I”m used to it being on the left being in the US and all 🙂 Looking forward to checking out your blog more.

oh no! that is terrible…i hope this is resolved quickly. cars are nothin but trouble!! of course it came at the worst time ever (you guys were probably really hungry, too–that always makes me extra cranky)!

can i ask for BF’s pizza recipe? i tried making my own at home and it was TERRIBLE. How can you screw up pizza, you may ask? you get me to cook it. 😉

i have particular trouble with the sauce–can he recommend a brand of pasta/pizza sauce or does he make his own? I haven’t been able to find ‘pizza’ sauce here yet…

I am TERRIBLE when I’m hungry, which is pretty often cause food just seems to pass through me like air. You don’t want to be near me when I’m due for a meal!

Yeah…I really don’t know what’s going to happen. Can’t afford to get it fixed, let alone get to TO a place to be fixed. BF had a tinker round but had no success.

Ummm…we usually use Leggo’s tomato paste for a sauce (should hopefully be able to find it near pasta sauce/tomato products in the aisles) and it works quite well.

Haha, I’m not sure what else you might want to know? We get pre made bases, so nothing too tricky there (as long as you watch the oven and don’t burn it, I guess). Swirl on the sauce, maybe some barbecue sauce as well for variety. Chuck on ham, pineapple, chicken, bacon, peppers, cheese, whatever tickles your fancy, put it in the oven and away you go! We always do it differently every time, so it’s a bit of an adventure 😀

Is that a kiwi thing, putting bbq sauce on pizza?? i find it so bizarre!

I tried a tomato paste on a pre-made base with mozzarella all over the top…alas, it was really dry and gross. i’m really not sure what i did wrong…or maybe my taste buds are not kiwi-acclimated yet?

good luck with the car…do you guys have triple A (or whatever the equivalent here is–i think it’s what i call ‘alcoholics anonymous’ (AA)?) do you need the car every day? what do you use it for?

incidentally, what do they call alcoholics anonymous here…or do they even have one? NZ is so fun. 🙂

I dunno, I’ve never had pizza anywhere else in the world, but I wouldn’t be surprised…bbq sauce does seem like a really kiwi thing.

Maybe you could add a few slices of fresh tomatoes for a bit of juice? I do that a lot of the time.

I think alcoholics anonymous is just AA, and then there’s ALAC and a few other groups like that too

errr….he has third party, fire and theft insurance. no AA membership. if we had insurance with them we probably would have bought membership too, but they wouldn’t insure a Levin for a <25 year old.

I’m not sure, might try to find out what a mobile mechanic might charge.

Car isn’t used much atm, we’d use it for grocery shopping, laundry trips, and any job interviews he might have. It’s such bad timing is all. Everything’s happening at once, another year to go before it’s paid off, insurance, warrant and reg are due, our bloody hot water still isn’t back on because they keep discovering new issues, and the glazier who was meant to come fix our windows still hasn’t shown up…
